Once the pencil sketch is completed, it's time to ink the drawing. For me, inking is a rather quick tracing process, which is probably backwards to what most cartoonists think, since the ink is permanent. Although I used a straight edge to pencil in the base boards and door jam, I intentionally do not use the straight edge when inking. I feel the "perfect edge" would not match the free-hand line style of the rest of the drawing. The drawing above simply shows what a partially inked pencil sketch looks like.
